I can get so much more done with the use of the electronics while doing a home visit.  One of my patients borrowed a walker and liked it. She needed a few different features to make her safe.  Her family had an opinion about what type of equipment she needed and I had my own opinion about the type of walker needed.  My patient and I searched the internet and found a couple of walkers that came close to what we wanted.  I sent the family the links to view for their input.  After choosing a walker that had nearly all features, I sent an email to the Medical Supply company with a photo of the walker she was using and the link to the new walker choice.  They confirmed that they could get all the needed components for the order.  I made an electronic request for an order from her physician and let the office know that we needed to expedite the request…..all while I was there for one visit!  These things used to take so much more time.  I can only imagine what changes will come in the next 20 years.
